Payday 3 Successfully Funded, Release 2023

Threatened with death and disappearance, this is the risk that Starbreeze and its flagship multiplayer action game franchise - Payday 3. For those of you who are not too familiar, Starbreeze is indeed experiencing a thorny financial problem that makes them almost out of business. The financial reports for 2020 have indeed improved, but Starbreeze still needs an injection of funds to not only survive but also ensure their latest game - Payday 3 can be released. Fortunately, this situation ended in good news.

 

 

Starbreeze has successfully locked up a Payday 3 publishing partnership with Koch Media with a total funding of around 50 million Euros! This fund will guarantee the Payday 3 development process, which is now planned to be released in 2023 via consoles and PCs.

This fund has also covered various aspects of marketing needed as well as support for “games as a service” content for at least 1.5 years after its release. There is no information or details about what kind of content and gameplay we can anticipate from Payday 3 itself.

This funding of course "saved" Starbreeze, which some time ago was threatened with closure at the end of 2021 if they did not get an injection of fresh funds.
