Final Fantasy XVI Will Focus On Action With "Story Mode"

Since it was announced last year, we definitely know quite a lot about what Square-Enix will present in Final Fantasy XVI in the future. Starting from the medieval theme, adult ratings, to the main theme that players will be assigned to protect a boy named Joshua. But until now, the direction of the story and how the gameplay as a whole has not yet come to light. The good news is that Naoki Yoshida as the producer provides an overview of the focus of the game.

Launching GamesTalk, Naoki Yoshida, who was participating in the "Game Hack" corner of the Tokyo FM event entitled One Morning, explained that Final Fantasy XVI will focus on action. He continued that the game will also integrate the mechanics with the story. In other words, Final Fantasy XVI is a mix between story and action.

As we already know, the battle action mode that was originally initiated by Final Fantasy XV received a variety of praise from both the media and fans. This base was later developed and modified in such a way in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Now, Final Fantasy XVI looks like it will return to perfecting its mechanics.

When asked what about players who only want to focus on the story, Yoshida explained that they are currently preparing a mode for players who want to enjoy the Final Fantasy XVI story only. This could be related to a mechanic similar to NieR's easy mode: Automata, which allows 2B to dodge automatically.

Yoshida admitted that he grew up playing the previous series Final Fantasy. At the age of almost 50 years now, he wants to create a world of Final Fantasy that makes someone like him who has enjoyed the sweetness and bitterness of life continue to be passionate until now.

Final Fantasy XVI is currently being developed by Square-Enix for the PlayStation 5. It is not clear whether the game will last on the console for several years or will also be released on PC at the same time in the future. This is considering that almost all of the series are also released on PC.
