Due to the pandemic, Rainbow Six Quarantine will likely change titles
With a pandemic that has occurred in the past year, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot explained to investors (via Kotaku) that they plan to change the game title from Rainbow Six Quarantine. The word quarantine in the title is afraid that it can give a bad connotation in the present time where Covid-19 is still raging.
"We are still making these products, which are what their current name suggests, which is something we are evaluating and we will see in the future," said Guillemot when asked about the fate of Rainbow Six Quarantine in the midst of the current pandemic.
Rainbow Six Quarantine was announced at E3 2019, but after the announcement, Ubisoft has little to share about the game. Fans are still confused about what this game will look like, whether it will be a total single-player game, a single player with co-op integration like the latest Ghost Recon, or even a semi-MMO like The Division. Seeing the pandemic situation in 2020, it is certainly not the right moment to re-announce this game, not only because of the title but also the game setting which is rumored about the widespread spread of alien parasites.
Ubisoft has yet to announce the release date of this game, but according to CFO Frederick Duguet, through the same investor meeting, the game is planned to be released this year.
