Amazon's MMORPG New World is Postponed Again
You have to be patient again.
The dryness of the presence of new MMORPG games, which for the last few years has only dominated the mobile market, is an unsatisfied thirst for PC players. That the same genre for the platform of a million people is still dominated by games that have been broadcasting since eight or nine years ago, this has closed the hopes of its audience to experience the application of modern technology in MMORPGs.
The development of MMORPG games that require a lot of money and time is one of the reasons why its presence is so minimal. Even so, some developers such as Bandai Namco Online with Blue Protocol, Smilegate with Lost Ark, and Amazon Games with New World are trying to revive them with technology commonly used in AAA games today.
Of the three titles, New World is the game that is closest to completing the global version (Lost Ark is not included because it has not yet released an English version). The MMORPG made by Amazon Games will invite players to enjoy a world that has been beautifully polished with several fantasy themes wrapped in charming visuals thanks to the Lumberyard Engine, a modified engine from CryEngine that they use.
New World received a delay after Amazon announced that the game was planned for release in 2020, but was pushed into spring 2021. Since then, they have continued to hold alpha sessions for select players. Unfortunately, Amazon Games today announced that the game has been postponed again.
Amazon Games announced that they are postponing New World for release on August 31, 2021, or around the summer of 2021. They admit that the end-game content is currently incomplete and that spring is an unrealistic time to release it.
With the additional time, Amazon Games will finalize the end-game content while polishing and improving the game mechanics. While waiting, they will still open the opportunity for players to taste the game via alpha by opening a European server on March 30, 2021.
Meanwhile, the closed beta period will begin on July 20, 2021. Players who have pre-ordered New World on Amazon or Steam will be able to enjoy the game when the closed beta begins.
New World is currently scheduled to release on August 31, 2021 exclusively on PC only.
