Next Tomb Raider Game will Combine the Timeline of Classic and Modern Versions
As is well known, the popularity of the Tomb Raider series cannot be denied. Especially from the last game series, Tomb Raider Reboot, developed by Crystal Dynamics. The gameplay is different from the previous game and the story setting is more realistic and modern, making the game a good reception from critics, old fans, and newcomers.
However,
this success would not have been achieved without Core Design's
previous Tomb Raider series. When compared to the modern version, of
course the classic Tomb Raider will look "old-fashioned". However, the
game series was once the success of its time. This also makes Crstal
Dynamics try to pay homage to Core Design's Tomb Raider by combining the
classic version of Lara Croft's story with the modern version.
Through
the official Tomb Raider Twitter account, Will Kerslake as the game
director of the Tomb Raider series stated that currently Crystal
Dynamics as the developer of Tomb Raider Reboot (modern version) will
collaborate with Core Design as the developer of the classic Tomb Raider
in "combining" Lara's story. Croft classic version with modern. This
announcement also marks the 25th anniversary of the Tomb Raider series.
Kerslake
also said that there are currently no major announcements to share.
This is because the plan for the merger is quite difficult, so the
process of course takes a long time. However, for fans who can't wait,
Tomb Raider is currently working with Netflix to develop an anime series
that will tell the continuation of the Tomb Raider Trilogy.
Of
course, this news is exciting news for gamers, especially Tomb Raider
fans. Although not much information has yet to be shared, Crystal
Dynamics will commemorate Tomb Raider's 25th anniversary by presenting
various fan art, cosplay and interviews of the characters behind Tomb
Raider's success as well as other surprises on February 1st.
